BBC Radio 2 Work Experience Placement - The Jeremy Vine Show

Over the last couple of days, I have been carrying out a work experience placement at the Jeremy Vine Show for BBC Radio 2. Within this role, I was able to observe the shows production methods in order to gain an insight into the journalism industry.

On my first day I met Alexandra Burke out the front of Wogan House, I believe that she was doing an interview about her experience on Strictly Come Dancing. To start off with I found it strange being an environment along with some of the UK's best journalists and correspondents along with the guests that were featured on their shows.

If you're a listener of the show then you would know that they often tackle some controversial subjects and on the agenda for December 21st's show was topics of Damien Green, delivery drivers at Christmas and whether new mums feel guilty about going back to work once their maternity leave has ended. Not only will Jeremy talk about these issues but he will bring in guests and answer calls from the public.

On the second day, the production team were extremely busy because we had a live performance from the Y.O.U.N.G boy's in order to promote Sofar Sounds - a company which takes pride in live music and bringing it into people's homes. This was a completely different aspect of the show because they usually talk about serious matters, however, this was to mark the last show of 2017.

Throughout this whole experience, I was able to gain an insight into the journalism industry and made me realise that this is a career I want to pursue in the future. A huge thank you to BBC and everyone at the Jeremy Vine show for having me I loved being there!
