The rise of Tiktok has led to the creation of a new generation of 'it-girls' responsible for producing global trends. Last year saw the emergence of the 'Clean Girl' trend, which resembled the notion of simplicity and minimalism. Gradually as we've entered 2023 this has adapted into the 'Vanilla/Soft Girl' aesthetic trend: "The aesthetic leans into luxe, cosy minimalism. It's heavy on easy-going outfits in cosy, tactile textures and airy, neutral colours like white, beige, cream and, well, vanilla." (Cosmopolitan) Beauty-wise, makeup is kept natural, fresh and pretty. Like clean girl beauty (and the no-makeup makeup look that came before it), vanilla girl makeup focuses on minimal makeup, glowy skin and sheer swipes of colour across eyes, lips and cheeks. In today's post, I'm going to be giving my best recommendations for achieving the 'vanilla/soft girl' beauty regime, as always I'll try to include three main price points drugstore/mid-range/luxury so whatever budget you're on there's a product for you. At the end of the post, I'll give you a total cost for each price range if you purchase every item. I hope this post shows that if you want to achieve this look you can do so on a variety of budgets. Personally, I use a combination of high-end products and some dupes. In many cases, the dupes can sometimes be better! I also find that if you want to try out some of the high-end products, see if you can get a sample of travel size first before investing your money into the full-size product.
