For
a few years now, it’s been about embracing individuality and naturalness: the
idea of really presenting everybody as the best version of themselves. It’s a
very positive image, and that isn’t going to go away - it’s going to continue
to be the backbone for everything. Portrayal of this on the runway remains as
prominent as ever…
VICTORIA BECKHAM:
The British fashion icon defied all
expectations when presenting her 10th Anniversary show at London
Fashion Week in September 2018, nostalgia remained at the forefront of the
show, showing the evolution of the crafted workmanship. As with any show, the
hair and beauty aspects act as compositions that heavily contribute to the
final look. As previously mentioned, the evolution of her brand image has been
outstanding to witness with her SS19 show taking on a subtle, sophisticated
almost simplistic approach; models adopting the ‘boyish’ slick hair, this
allows the exploration of all the components needed to create the look.
BURBERRY:
Creative
Director Tisci wanted to play off the idea of ladylike Britishness and
properness, and that’s where we got these very clean chignons, a method that
seems restricted and outdated. As the brand begins to diversify and develop,
the aims of becoming more provocative and contemporary.
PRADA:
This
season at Prada was a very defined look with very short bangs. It was a trend
back in the '50s and '60s, but it felt new again. That is always the best
fashion or beauty trick: when you identify with something, but it’s presented
in a way that you’re not quite sure where it’s coming from. Putting extreme
headbands on all the girls. It felt futuristic, but also like a religious symbol.
RALPH LAUREN:
Ralph’s
vision for the brand was to achieve luxe attainability, therefore the use of a
blowdry combined with products such as Wella Perfect Me (£10.40). This tousled
beachy look allows for easy recreation outside of the salon – even after the
service, the hair will gradually form its own natural shape, adding a new
finish to it whilst still looking occasion ready.
These next few posts will be in collaboration with Oliver & Lee Hair Design, a salon based in Sittingbourne, Kent. If you are interested in any of the services or products mentioned in the post, please do not hesitate to contact me or the salon directly.
