All Things University: Move in Day 2.0

The day has finally come for me to move into my second-year house, this year I'm living off-campus in the town of Englefield Green. Finding the house was a stressful process because all housemates have different needs, wants and budgets so finding the happy medium isn't always the easiest. But after a few months searching for the house that suits all four of us, we found it!

The move-in day itself was always going to be stressful, even more so with social distancing measures because everyone goes from having their life neatly organised in boxes to having to find new homes for everything among other peoples stuff.

For me when it came to organising my things and decided what I needed to bring with me I made a list of each room in the house and what I would need for that room. Most important rooms were the kitchen and bedroom, particularly when it comes to making things look and feel homely.

As you can
see from the photos, my room is themed pink and cream, I wanted the fairy lights back up that I used last year along with lots of blankets and cushions because that's what makes me feel cosy. I have to admit I was working within a limited space, however, I think I've made the best out of the storage space I have. Room decor is crucial to making space your own, I was blessed with a rather large desk so I pushed this against my wardrobe so I could have my perspex makeup storage and my dressing table mirror. Then the other side of the desk I've placed my pen pots, organising all my coloured pens into markers, fine liners and biros. Finally, I could have a TV in my room which if I'm honest has really pieced it together, I use an Amazon Fire Stick to plug into the HDMI port meaning I can access, Netflix, Disney+, Spotify and Youtube.

As you may have figured, wardrobe space was one of the key features of my room, to make sure I had enough space for my extensive jacket collection. One of the saving graces of this was the vertical wardrobe organisers. These can easily be picked up from stores like Argos.

On my bed, I wanted to keep the bedding neutral so that I can try and make my room decor seasonal and colour themed. As you will see from the photos I have a largely pink and pastel theme to my decor, but I hope to try and make it a bit more autumnal in time for Halloween.
