Meditation, Manifestation and Mental Wellbeing

This is a slightly different post to what I would usually do, but I want to take this opportunity to talk about my recent experiences with meditation, manifestation and other wellness practices. Taking care of your mental wellbeing is often overlooked in day-to-day life but is essential to having a stable overall wellbeing.

Recently I've been attending guided meditation and sound bath sessions with Claire from Stop For a Moment at Salon 38 in Windlesham. Claire uses instruments such as Koshi Chimes and Singing Bowls to calm the body and mind, reducing stress and anxiety with the aim of giving you a better nights sleep. Alongside this technique Claire leads a guided meditation session that is based on the foundations of Yoga Nidra aiming to guide you through any issues you may be facing in life.

"Yoga Nidra is a centuries old, tried and tested, approach to finding calm within the chaos. Validated by modern science and research, it provides relief and support with stress, sleep disorders, trauma and pain. In a world where anxiety, impatience and frustration feel part of daily life, yoga Nidra enables us to respond with kindness and strength. In a world where life can feel full of judgement and consumption, yoga Nidra strips away the excess, leaving a simplicity and spaciousness.  In a world where we so often try to be someone we’re not, conforming to expectations, yoga Nidra allows us to be truly grateful for each moment, to be content in who we are and to let go of what we don’t need."

I've spoken briefly about my passion for spiritual therapies alongside my journey with my eating. But I also find these therapies to be great for perfectionist workaholics like me who struggle to unwind and relax. I've been seeing Claire for meditation every few weeks now and I find that the hour and a half I spent with her to be the highlight of my week.

I wanted to take this opportunity to also speak about the power of manifestation. For those of you who might not be as knowledgable in this area, manifestation refers to a self-help strategy that aims to bring about a personal goal by focusing thoughts on the intended outcome. Books such as The Secret and Good Vibes, Good Life have hailed the use of manifestation in achieving your personal goals. I would say since reading both of these books and learning more about the law of attraction it's most certainly something I've become increasingly interested in. I've found myself turning what used to be simply boards on Pinterest into vision boards that help me to both visualise and conceptualise the things I want to achieve. I've also found that giving myself a time frame to achieve these goals makes them seem more than just a pipe dream. For example, at the start of every year I make a vision board and set it as the screensaver on my laptop. Everyday I see this board of all the things I want to achieve in that year, subconsciously I think about these goals and make small lifestyle changes to make them possible.

Claire's meditation classes have been a huge help in my manifestation journey because at the start of each session she often asks us to set our intentions whether that be 'to feel loved' or something far more specific. Personally I tend to opt for something to do with relaxation or some form of motivation to achieve my goals. On the whole, I find this to be a great part of my mental well-being routine. It allows me to dedicate a couple of hours of my time to focusing on myself and self-improvement.

I would encourage anyone who's interested to get in contact with Claire via her website, she not only offers sound bath sessions but also personalised recordings for those of you who may not be local to the Surrey area.
