Garden Party Inspo 2021:

All going well, from the 29th March in England lockdown rules are to be relaxed allowing people to meet in groups of six or two households, this includes in private gardens. In today's post I want to go through some of my favourite garden party ideas so you can host friends and family in your own garden. I would like to add that your garden doesn't have to be huge and you don't need to spend a fortune to have a nice time. I'm going to categorise this post into food, drink, decor and entertainment.

Food

As you will see from the photo above, grazing boards can be the perfect spread for a garden party. They offer plenty of options that can be tailored to whatever your tastes are. Typically they contain a variety of charcuterie meats, cheese, crackers and usually some fruits. But if this isn't your type of food then you could easily do a dessert platter which is a personal favourite of mine!

Fruit skewers are also a great addition to any garden party, if you've got children then they can easily get involved with the preparation. Even the simplest of foods can be made to be aesthetically pleasing.

Drink
When it comes to drinks you need to think about the people you've invited so you can provide something to suit everyone's taste. Depending on the age of people you've invited will be the deciding factor on whether you choose to serve an alcoholic beverage. An all time favourite of mine is fresh lemonade, these dispensers can be found both easily and cheaply online. Lemonade is a fool proof drink that most people like. It's always worth having a jug of iced water with lemon for those who don't like other soft drinks.

If you're looking to serve and alcoholic drink a frozen strawberry daiquiri could be the perfect one for you. With just four ingredients this is a simple but amazing drink for any garden party.

You will need; 500g strawberries, 200g ice, 100ml white rum, 1/2 lime juiced. (Makes 2)
Blend the strawberries then push the resulting puree through a sieve to remove some of the seeds. Tip the sieved puree into the blender again and add the ice, rum and lime juice. Blend again and divide the mixture between 2 Martini glasses.

*please drink responsibly and make sure you are of drinking age*

Decor
Fairy lights are key to any good garden party, especially when paired with either lanterns or bunting. All of these can be found a great price online or in stores such as Wilko, B&M or Home Bargains.  It's always worth considering the lighting options in your garden for when it starts to get dark - darkness shouldn't mean that your party is over.  Candles also make for a fabulous addition.

Flowers in your garden can brighten it up a little bit during the day, if you have a spare flower bed you could always look into getting some bedding plants to add that pop of colour.

Entertainment
When the restrictions allow, I can't wait to have and outdoor cinema night with my friends, this is the perfect source of entertainment at your garden party! Alternative options include, getting a portable speaker to listen to music or playing some card games.

Coronavirus is spreading, let's all play our part to keep our loved ones safe. Remember to observe social distancing guidelines, wear a mask and keep up to date with government legislation.

Stay Safe xx
